The drivers door lock is a back up plan to the remote system in case the BSI has gone into deep sleep or the keys get out of sync. All the wires to the tailgate go through the rubber tube so possibly a few of them have broken or maybe just the earth wire. This is from the C4 Technical section Common Problems pinned topic and it may be worth contacting your Citroen dealer in case they may do the repair free of charge: 13. Tailgate electrical faults - rear wiper, lock. I have been having the exact same problem with my C4GP 1.6 HDI Exclusive 2008 41k (bought only 5 weeks ago). It is due to go in to be looked at by a Citroen dealer (Arbury walsall) tomorrow.
C5 Central Locking problem Post by tictac77 ยป Sat Aug 08, 2009 2:59 pm remote key is not working but I have been able to lock the car with the key but today that has stopped working. when i ,lock the car with the key the front doors lock but the back ones don't.
1.1-test the opening of the doors of the skoda fabia with the key. First try the central locking. To do this press the key of your car. Observe if the malfunction is general. That is, do you have a single door stuck or several. If this is verified then there is a good chance that the dysfunction comes from the centralization.

If the car starts you might just have a low remote battery (should come up in the central display though) but if it's completely dead you might need the key recoding. If it's just the remote function not working then it's probably like my key, having been dropped there's something bust in the circuit so it only works as a traditional key; not
